MANDEVILLE, La. (AP) - A Louisiana man is accused of stealing two saxophones and a trombone from a high school in a New Orleans suburb.
Waylin Leon, 40, of Mandeville was arrested Monday on charges of burglary, theft, criminal damage to property and criminal trespassing, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
The theft was discovered Dec. 13, when administrators at a Mandeville-area high school found that the glass door to the band room had been shattered and the three instruments had been taken, said Capt. Scott Lee, a police spokesman.
He said surveillance video from the school and information from a pawn shop identified Leon.
Leon was already in jail — he’d been booked three days earlier on an unrelated contempt of court charge.
It was not clear whether Leon has an attorney who could comment on the allegations.
