DETROIT (AP) - The Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation has awarded $2 million to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan.
The matching grant will match $1 for every $2 raised by the organization as part of its $15 million fundraising goal over the next three years. More than $5 million already has been raised.
The organization was founded in 1926 and serves youth ages 6-18. Eight clubs across the region provide programs and services to nearly 13,000 youth each year.
“Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan has truly taken a bold step in re-imagining what recreation and after-school programming could look like to better serve today’s youth,” said Jim Boyle, vice president of programs and communications at the Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation. “Their innovative and multi-generational approach has great potential to be a driver of economic mobility not only for youth, but also their families and surrounding community. We’re proud to help provide this lift to their campaign and get them closer to their funding goal.”
The grant was announced at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan’s annual Great Future Awards presentation in Detroit. The Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation was honored at the event, which was presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.
