A man was arrested on charges of pulling a knife on a store employee at the Mall of New Hampshire in Manchester and fleeing with $2,000 worth of merchandise, police said Friday.

Police said a man went into the Best Buy store at the mall at about 4 p.m. Thursday, grabbed some items and began running for the exit. An employee said the man, identified as George Johnson, of Manchester, swung a knife at him as he tried to keep him from leaving.

Police said Johnson, 27, was charged with armed robbery and being a convicted felon in possession of a deadly weapon,. He was being held on a parole violation and is likely to be arraigned Monday. It wasn’t immediately known if he had a lawyer who could speak on his behalf.
