Zack Britton has played for two teams in the American League East — one of them is this year’s runaway leader and the other one’s 36 games back.

After spending more than seven years with the Orioles, the pitcher was traded to the Yankees in July 2018. And on Wednesday before matching-up with Baltimore, he said there was still something familiar about Camden Yards.

“It definitely feels like I’m home when I’m here pitching,” Britton said.

The 31-year-old has a 2.30 ERA with the Yankees and a 0.00 ERA against the Orioles, but he couldn’t pinpoint why he fares better against Baltimore.

“I think a lot of people say, ’Oh, it’s your former team so you want to play a lot better,’ but I haven’t really felt that way,” Britton said. “I just have been trying to treat it like I would any other team.”

And with the newer crop of Orioles players, his former team doesn’t look exactly how he remembers.

“It was weird the first couple times, this is our third time here this year, a little bit more normal per se, just kind of coming in and playing,” Britton said. “I think the biggest change that helps is the team’s a lot different from when I was there so now, you just try to say it’s kind of just a different uniform.”

Though last year’s injury made transitioning to the Yankees challenging, two years later, he said he feels like he fits in with the players.

“This year I feel more comfortable with the guys,” he said. “I feel like I’ve been teammates with them for a while.”

Zack’s younger brother, Buck is the manager of the Double-A Bowie Baysox.
