It was another long night in the Baltimore Orioles’ long season.
Baltimore couldn’t pull out a victory in its final meeting of the season with the Washington Nationals, who won 8-4 on the back of a Max Scherzer start. But long before the game ended, an Orioles coach and player got into a heated argument in the dugout and had to be separated.
Third base coach José David Flóres and relief pitcher Richard Bleier had a shouting match over defensive positioning that was caught on the MASN broadcast, the Baltimore Sun reported. Several players stepped in to separate them.
“We’re all adults,” Bleier said after the game. “It’s not like I’m mad at anybody. Right now, we’re not thrilled with each other maybe, but I’m sure we can move past this and get back to a healthy relationship.”
It’s the second flare-up in the Baltimore dugout in a matter of weeks. First baseman Chris Davis confronted manager Brandon Hyde in the dugout and had to be restrained during a loss to the Yankees earlier this month.
