LAFOLLETTE, Tenn. (AP) - The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has identified a woman who died after police investigating an attempted break-in fired at her.

The TBI said the woman was 28-year-old Lianna Renee London of Jacksboro.

The agency said officers with the LaFollette Police Department were called Monday to investigate the attempted break-in. Police arrived to find the woman, who was reportedly armed with a handgun. The TBI said the situation escalated, and officers fired, hitting the woman.

LaFollette police told WATE-TV in Knoxville that the woman pulled the gun from her waistband and pointed it at officers, who told her several times to drop the weapon.

She was taken to a hospital, where she died.

No officers were injured. The TBI didn’t identify the officers involved.
