PITTSFIELD, Mass. (AP) - Pittsfield police say they have identified the driver of a vehicle that struck and killed a pedestrian in the city last weekend.

The Berkshire Eagle reports that 51-year-old Pittsfield resident Robert Johnson faces charges of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.

In a press release issued Wednesday, police said that Johnson has been “fully cooperative in the investigation.” It could not be determined if he had a lawyer.

Witnesses tell police that at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday a vehicle was heading eastbound on Dalton Avenue when it struck a pedestrian sitting in the road. The driver left the scene.

Police have identified the pedestrian as 32-year-old Christopher Reynolds of Pittsfield. Officials say Reynolds died of blunt force trauma.
