SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A man was found dead at the bottom of a popular narrow trail bordered by steep drops at Zion National Park.
Zion National Park spokeswoman Aly Baltrus said Thursday that park rangers found the man’s body while searching for a 35-year-old hiker who went missing in the area earlier this week. Baltrus says they are still trying to determine if it’s the same person.
The man’s body was found at the bottom of a trail called Angel’s Landing, which is a path that ascends some 1,500 feet (457 meters) above the southern Utah park’s red-rock cliffs. The trail offers sweeping views has become especially popular among visitors inspired by social media posts, but it also comes with dire safety warnings about the danger of falls.
A 13-year-old girl fell to her death on the trail in February 2018.
