BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont man who lost his pilot’s license after being convicted of using a small plane to transport drugs has been sentenced to 15 months in prison for flying without a license.
The U.S. Attorney’s office says that 49-year-old Angelo Efthimiatos was sentenced Thursday in federal court in Burlington.
Efthimiatos was arrested at the Rutland airport last year after he flew to Vermont from Massachusetts. No drugs were found in the plane.
The Federal Aviation Administration says Efthimiatos’ license was revoked in 2014 following convictions in Iowa that involved him using a small aircraft to transport drugs between California and the East Coast.
His sentence will be served concurrently with an 18-month sentence stemming from the Iowa case.
Efthimiatos’ attorney did not return a call seeking comment.
