DECATUR, Ala. (AP) - A north Alabama physician accused of sexually assaulting patients is free on bail after his Friday arrest.
Dr. Michael Dick of Decatur was arrested Friday in Montgomery, where he was attending a licensure hearing.
News outlets report Dick was released on bail Saturday. The rheumatologist is supposed to answer to first-degree sexual assault charges in Morgan County.
The Alabama Medical Licensure Commission held a hearing Friday regarding Dick’s license, which it suspended in October. Spokeswoman Karen Silas says the commission didn’t finish the hearing. Dick was arrested after the meeting.
Dick was convicted on three misdemeanor charges of harassing female patients. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail and a $500 fine on each count, but is appealing.
Ten female patients are suing Dick for sexual harassment and misconduct.
