CHICAGO (AP) - A Chicago police officer shot himself and died while in a patrol car.
Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi says the sergeant was a supervisor in the mass transit unit. He says the shooting was intentional Monday in Chicago’s West Loop area.
Guglielmi says “our hearts are heavy.”
More than a dozen members of the Chicago fire department stood in a line and saluted the officer as his body was transported to the medical examiner’s office.
