LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - Authorities are investigating a police shooting at a Las Cruces high school afterhours on Thursday.

Police say a task force is looking into a multi-agency officer shooting of a 32-year-old man who led officers on a chase through the high school campus.

The man, Juan Angel Pinedo, was pronounced dead on scene. Nobody else was injured.

Pinedo was a felon who was facing charges of aggravated assault after shooting his gun in the air during a confrontation with his ex-girlfriend last week.

A warrant was issued for his arrest and police encountered him on Thursday, but he fled.
