SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - Lawyer and best-selling author Scott Turow will be the keynote speaker at a bicentennial celebration of the Illinois judiciary.
The Supreme Court Historic Preservation Commission is sponsoring a gala Oct. 9 at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum . That day is the 200th anniversary of the Illinois General Assembly’s appointment of the first four justices of the Supreme Court in the first state capital, Kaskaskia (kas-KAS’-kee-uh).
Turow is a Chicago attorney who has published 10 novels including “Presumed Innocent.” His non-fiction works include “One L,” about his experience as a first-year Harvard law student.
The gala begins at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $150.
The Supreme Court Historic Preservation Commission was established in 2007 to advise the court on acquiring and preserving artifacts and documents related to the state’s judiciary.
