The intensely contentious saga of Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination has left its mark on the nation’s capital, and not in a good way, according to Fox News’s Tucker Carlson.

“We’re in Washington. I’ve been here all my life, and I can say, I have never seen this city crazier, more paranoid, more tense or more dumb,” Mr. Carlson said Thursday on his “Tucker Carlson Tonight” program, during a segment conversation with guest Ann Coulter.

Like many conservative observers, Ms. Coulter believes that the press clearly have sided with Democrats who insist that Christine Blasey Ford’s allegations against Judge Kavanaugh are the reason why his nomination should be dismissed.

“If they get away with this, then you have CNN running the country. It’s not even just the Democrats running the country,” the conservative author and columnist said. “It’s the media running the country because this allegation can be made against anyone at any time — absolutely non-disprovable. If you fit the narrative, then you’re guilty.”
