LAWRENCE, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a gas main break forced the overnight evacuation of students from dorms at Rider University.

Rider spokeswoman Kristine Brown tells NJ.com that students were evacuated around 2:20 a.m. Thursday after construction crews hit a gas line on Route 206, near the Lawrence campus’ main entrance.

The students were sent to the campus recreation center for about two hours while the break was repaired. No injuries were reported.

Classes were being held Thursday and the university was operating on a normal schedule.
