Minnesota Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen won’t play Week 5 against the Eagles, and he might not play for a while after that.

The Vikings don’t expect Griffen to return “anytime soon,” a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Griffen was mentioned in a September police incident report, in which it was alleged a man threatened to shoot someone in a hotel in Minneapolis. He was also named in a separate incident report for attempting to enter teammate Trae Waynes’ home (which Waynes denied through a team-released statement).

Griffen stayed in a hospital for evaluation for some time after that.

Minnesota coach Mike Zimmer said he has received “no clarity” about Griffen’s timetable.

According to another ESPN source, Griffen “could be back next week or could never play again. You just don’t know when it comes to mental health.”
