YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) - The Catholic Diocese of Youngstown has made public the names of 34 priests it says have been credibly accused of sexually abusing minors.

The diocese said in September it would release a list of names dating back to the diocese’s 1943 formation.

The Vindicator reports Bishop George Murry at a news conference Tuesday apologized to sexual abuse victims and said “our promise” is that it doesn’t happen again. Murry said 76 credible victims have reported abuse thus far.

A diocesan spokesman says the names of all the priests have been reported to “civil authorities,” including those who are dead. He says no living priests on the list remain in ministry.

The Cleveland, Columbus and Steubenville dioceses have said in recent weeks they also will release names of credibly accused priests.
