LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas authorities are investigating after an inmate was found dead at a state prison over the weekend.

The Arkansas Department of Correction said Harrison Flanery was found unresponsive Sunday afternoon during a regular security check of his assigned barracks at the Tucker Unit. Responding medical staff began emergency medical treatment on Flanery before he was taken to the prison infirmary, where he was pronounced dead.

The 48-year-old inmate was serving a 15-year sentence on a first-degree sexual assault conviction out of Greene County.



Arkansas State Police is investigating Flanery’s death, and the Department of Correction is conducting an internal investigation.
