HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Republican governor candidate Bob Stefanowski says he’s hitting the road in the final days of the campaign, speaking directly to Connecticut voters.

The Madison businessman announced Thursday he will kick off his 52-stop, nine-day “Rebuild Connecticut Road Tour” on Saturday. The list of visits includes diners, Halloween parades and festivals, a pig roast, and Electric Boat Shipyard in Groton.

The first stop will be in East Hartford at Rentchler Field, for the UConn homecoming tailgate party.

Stefanowski says the final two weeks of the election are critical and when he gets his message out about lower taxes, “it’s resonating.” He says “sometimes stuff gets filtered.”

Stefanowski on Thursday dismissed criticism that he has shied away from members of the news media, saying “I honestly don’t know where that’s coming from.”
