EVERETT, Wash. (AP) - A man who prosecutors say tortured and killed two people in Washington state “for the flimsiest of reasons” will spend the rest of his life in prison without the possibility of parole.

The Daily Herald reports 18-year-old Anthony Hernandez-Cano was sentenced Tuesday in Snohomish County after he pleaded guilty in August to two counts of aggravated murder for his role in the deaths of 21-year-old Mohamed Adan and 22-year-old Ezekiel Kelly.

Authorities say Adan’s body was found July 1 near Arlington burned, severely beaten and shot. Kelly’s body was found two days later in Mukilteo stabbed 27 times and shot in the head.

According to court documents, the killings occurred after Hernandez-Cano believed they had “snitched” on him about violating a no-contact order with his girlfriend.
