A 39-year-old Helena woman died after being struck by a car

HELENA, Mont. (AP) - A 39-year-old Helena woman has died after being struck by a car while crossing the street.

Lewis and Clark County Coroner Bryan Backeberg tells the Independent Record that Tracy Lee Simmons died Saturday morning at a Great Falls hospital after being hit by a car on Prospect Avenue on Friday night.

The driver of the vehicle called 911 just after 9:20 p.m. Friday.

The victim was taken flown to the hospital in Great Falls, where she died early Saturday morning.

Police Lt. Bryan Petty says officers are still investigating and no citations have been issued.
