EAST MILLINOCKET, Maine (AP) - Former U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud will be back on the ballot next month, but only in one town.

Michaud, who served 11 terms in the state Legislature and 12 years in Congress, is now running for a three-year term on the East Millinocket Board of Selectmen.

The 63-year-old Democrat told the Bangor Daily News he had planned to retire from public office after serving as an assistant secretary of labor during the Obama administration but said he saw an opportunity to help his hometown. He’s running against Tom McDunnah, who like Michaud, worked at Great Northern Paper until 2002.
