Anthony Cowan, Maryland guard, named to Preseason All-Big Ten team

Maryland Terrapins point guard Anthony Cowan Jr. was named to the 2018-19 Preseason All-Big Ten team, released Thursday at the Big Ten’s media day.

Cowan, a rising junior, led Maryland with 15.8 points, 5.1 assists and 1.5 steals per game in 2017-18. His 37 minutes per game average led the entire conference.

Cowan is one of 10 players picked for the preseason honor. He was both a third-team All-Big Ten selection and a conference All-Defensive Team selection last year.

Maryland went 19-13 (8-10 in conference) and finished eighth in the conference a year ago, missing out on postseason invitations.
