LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Two airports in Louisville are getting $24.4 million in federal grants to make infrastructure improvements.
A statement from the Louisville Airport Authority says $23.3 million will go toward upgrades at Louisville International Airport and $1.1 million will go to improve Bowman Field.
Some of the projects planned at Louisville International Airport include drainage improvements, installation of airfield guidance signs and repairing taxiway and runway pavement.
Bowman Field’s grant will go toward installing airfield guidance signs, navigational aids and upgrading lighting on runways and taxiways.
Louisville Regional Airport Authority Director Dan Mann said the projects will ensure that infrastructure can meet demand for the foreseeable future.
The grants were awarded by the Federal Aviation Administration as part of its Airport Improvement Program.
