SANFORD, Fla. (AP) - The Florida Highway Patrol says two young sisters died in head-on collision.

Sgt. Kim Montes said in an email that an Acura sedan crossed a double yellow line and crashed into a Toyota Corolla on Sunday afternoon.

Montes says Aziya and Zmiya Gandy, both 9, of Sanford were in the Toyota.

She says 14-year-old Alexandri Picerine and 9-year-old Zekiel Picerine were taken to the hospital for treatment. Both are listed in serious condition.

An FHP accident report says only the older child was wearing a seatbelt.

The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending against the Acura’s driver, 24-year-old Sabrina Patel.

The report says Patel and 52-year-old Deidre Gaetano, driver of the Toyota, suffered serious injuries.
