CLEVELAND (AP) - A man charged with killing five people in Ohio has pleaded guilty to aggravated murder and other charges in the deaths of three of them.

Forty-six-year-old George Brinkman Jr. told a three-judge panel Monday in Cleveland that he killed a North Royalton mother and her two adult daughters in June 2017. The panel must decide whether to accept Brinkman’s guilty plea to murder charges that make him eligible for a potential death penalty.

Investigators say Brinkman slit 42-year-old Suzanne Taylor’s throat, strangled Kylie Pifer and smothered Taylor Pifer.

An attorney for Brinkman said in court that Brinkman offered to plead guilty and serve a life sentence without parole, but prosecutors refused to drop pursuit of the death penalty.

Brinkman also is charged in the slayings of a Stark County couple.
