COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Officials have released the name of a man who died after being shot in central South Carolina over the weekend.

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said in a news release that 39-year-old James J. Boyer Jr. died at Palmetto Health Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia around 9 p.m. Saturday.

Watts says an autopsy indicated that Boyer died from a gunshot wound to the chest.



Sheriff’s deputies were called to a home around 8 p.m. Saturday and found the victim.

Deputies have not released a possible motive in the shooting. No arrests have been made.
