MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) - A New Hampshire husband and wife convicted of stealing tens of thousands from a relative have been sentenced to a year in prison.

A jury convicted Karen and James Folley, both of Bennington, on charges of stealing about $90,000 from James Folley’s sister, Barbara who died in 2017 at age 83. Prosecutors say the couple used ATM cards and bank transfers to steal money meant for the victim’s long-term care.

The victim’s stepdaughter, Kathleen Curry, says her father left the money for the victim so she wouldn’t have to worry about her future.

The Folleys did not speak at the hearing under advice from their lawyers. Their lawyers say they are appealing the conviction.
