GREENSBURG, Pa. (AP) - The Roman Catholic Diocese of Greensburg says Bishop Edward Malesic has suffered a mild heart attack and will undergo a procedure.

Diocesan Chief Communications Officer Jennifer Miele says Malesic visited an out-of-town emergency room over Thanksgiving weekend over chest pains.

She says a preliminary diagnosis shows he had a minor heart attack but doctors want to diagnose and treat it further.

He will undergo a cardiac catheterization on Friday.

She says they are “hopeful it was a single incident, but will know more tomorrow.”

He’s been at home resting ever since last weekend’s ordeal, and will need to take a few more days off after the procedure.
