JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - A Mississippi Department of Public Safety employee is being promoted to run the state’s Office of Homeland Security.
Public Safety Commissioner Marshall Fisher announced Wednesday that Jenny Williams will take the post beginning Dec. 1.
Williams currently oversees the Mississippi Analysis and Information Center - the state fusion center that promotes information sharing among law enforcement agencies. The fusion center is part of the Office of Homeland Security.
Williams retired from the FBI in 2014 and has overseen the fusion center for two years. She was recently named as the national fusion center director of the year.
The Office of Homeland Security works to prevent, prepare and respond to natural disasters, man-made disasters and terrorism.
