Suzuki played for Washington in 2012 and 2013. The Nationals acquired him from the Oakland Athletics in a 2012 trade.
Suzuki, 35, comes in to bolster a group of catchers that featured Pedro Severino and Matt Wieters last year. Last year for the Atlanta Braves, Suzuki played in 105 games and hit .277 with 12 home runs, 24 doubles and 50 RBI.
Suzuki’s deal reportedly will pay him $4 million in 2019 and $6 million in 2020.
