LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A Little Rock man faces numerous felony charges after officers discovered 14 pipe bombs at his home and two at his ex-girlfriend’s home.
James Patrick Huff, 47, was arrested Monday on 16 counts of criminal use of prohibited weapons and a single count of possession of firearms by certain persons, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported.
The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office said officers discovered the pipe bombs in a container buried in Huff’s yard. Sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Cody Burk said the bombs appear homemade.
“It’s really rare that we come across any type of pipe bombs,” Burk said.
Huff has also been linked to pipe bombs discovered last week at the home of his ex-girlfriend, Angella Poole. A police report says Poole alleged that Huff threatened and harassed her prior to her landlord discovering the explosives.
Authorities said that other agencies, including personnel from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Little Rock Fire Department bomb squad and the Arkansas State Police, also came to the scene near Poole’s residence.
Huff’s mother alleged that the pipe bombs belonged to her late husband.
“I asked him to destroy them,” she said. “I didn’t know anything else about them.”
Huff is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
