BOISE, Idaho (AP) - The Idaho Secretary of Stateās office has asked the attorney general to investigate possible campaign finance violations against Republican gubernatorial candidate Tommy Ahlquist.
Deputy Secretary of State Tim Hurst said Tuesday that his office had forwarded the case to Attorney General Lawrence Wasden last week after initially receiving the complaint in February.
According to the complaint, Ahlquist received maxed out donations from Idaho Falls-based Cortney Liddiard and Liddiardās car dealership - totaling $10,000.
Ahlquist then received more than $4,000 of in-kind donations for travel expenses - which the complaint says was used for private jet rides - from Liddiardās other company B&T Hospitality.
Idaho campaign contribution limits include totaling cash donations and in-kind donations. Once the limit is reached, candidates are not allowed to accept any further donations from individual or business.
Ahlquistās campaign did not immediately return a request for comment.
