HIGHGATE, Vt. (AP) - A woman and a man are being sought in connection with the shooting death of the woman’s former boyfriend whose remains were found in the woods over the weekend, and the woman’s mother was arrested and charged with helping her, police said on Monday.

The victim, whose body was found by two women walking their dogs in Highgate on Saturday, has been tentatively identified as Troy Ford. Police estimate Ford, who was 35 years old, was shot to death several months ago. Ford had not been reported missing.

Police said Ford was shot by Erika Guttilla, who was living with him at her parents’ home in Highgate.

On Sunday, Guttilla’s mother, Carmen Guttilla, 60, was arrested without incident and was charged with aiding in the commission of a felony. She pleaded not guilty on Monday and was being held without bail. Her attorney’s office said it had no information about the case.

Meanwhile, police were searching for Erika Guttilla and Corey Cassani, who also was accused of being involved in the case. They are considered armed and dangerous. Police are seeking arrest warrants for them.

A car in which Guttilla, 31, and Cassani, 28, were thought to have fled was found on Monday.
