IUKA, Miss. (AP) - A Mississippi sheriff says a man who shot at officers during a traffic stop has been arrested.
Tishomingo County Sheriff John Daugherty tells news outlets 45-year-old Brian Turner was arrested in Wayne County, Tennessee early Saturday. Daugherty says Turner rammed a deputy’s patrol car with his pickup truck, fired an assault-style rifle and drove away Thursday night.
Daugherty says the deputy and a Belmont police officer had pulled over Turner’s Dodge pickup near Belmont. They exchanged gunshots with him but no one was injured.
Turner will be extradited to Tishomingo County, and his charges and bond will be set at a court appearance on Monday.
It is unclear if Turner has a lawyer.
