TOWNSEND, Del. (AP) - State troopers in Delaware are investigating the fatal road crash of a motorcyclist in Townsend.
The collision reconstruction unit of the Delaware State Police says an initial investigation has determined that a Honda CMX motorcycle driven by a 30-year-old local man was hit by a 26-year-old motorist behind the wheel of a pickup truck.
They say the motorcyclist “failed to negotiate a rightward curve in the roadway and crossed the center line.” He apparently fell off the machine and was thrown directly into the 2009 Dodge Ram’s front end.
The motorcyclist, who has not been identified pending notification of his family, was pronounced dead at the scene. The pickup driver was not injured.
The Townsend road where the Wednesday crash took place was closed for roughly three hours.
