MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - West Virginia forward Teddy Allen has asked for his release and plans to transfer to another school.

Coach Bob Huggins announced Allen’s intentions Thursday.

Allen averaged seven points and 2.7 rebounds in 35 games coming off the bench as a freshman.

Allen’s inconsistent season included a pair of 20-point efforts against Oklahoma and Kansas State followed by a two-game benching for what Huggins termed an attitude problem.
