MALTA, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities in upstate New York say a house fire killed a 32-year-old disabled man who was trapped in the burning home and injured four others.
The Times Union reports the fire happened Wednesday night in Malta, New York, north of Albany. Firefighters contained the blaze but weren’t able to save Eric Edwards, who had cerebral palsy.
Edwards’ father, 60-year-old Glenn Broadbent Sr., was flown to Westchester Medical Center. Sixty-four-year-old Janet Broadbent and two of their children were taken to Albany Medical Center. One of the children was later transferred to Shriners Hospital in Boston.
The cause of the fire is unclear. An investigation continues.
