The University of Maryland announced that former basketball player Cliff Tucker, 29, died in a car accident Monday morning in Texas.

According to the El Paso Times, Tucker was one of three people to die in the one-vehicle accident on Interstate 10 in Texas. The Texas Department of Safety said the three who died were not wearing their seatbelts.

Tucker played 131 games for the Terrapins in four seasons from 2007 to 2011. He is best remembered for making a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to lift Maryland to a win over ACC rival Georgia Tech in February 2010.

A native of El Paso, Tucker had a career 3-point percentage of .352.

Some of his former teammates, including Maryland star Greivis Vasquez, used social media to reflect on the loss of their friend.
