SCOOBA, Miss. (AP) - Trustees at a Mississippi community college have turned to a longtime leader as interim president.

Rick Young, who retired as president of East Mississippi Community College in 2015, has been named as the institution’s temporary leader.

The college says Young returned to work Friday.

Former president Thomas Huebner resigned to seek the presidency of Meridian Community College. His last day at work was May 8.

Trustees plan a search for a new president.

Young worked for the school for more than 40 years, and was president beginning in 2004.

The student union on the school’s Scooba campus is named for Young. The college made a number of expansions during Young’s presidency and won three national football championships.
