A survivor of the Pulse nightclub shooting says he has found Jesus and is no longer gay.

In a Facebook post on Monday, Luis Ruiz was quoted renouncing his homosexuality and accepting “who Christ Jesus says I am.”

“Going through old pictures of the night of Pulse, I remember my struggles of perversion, heavy drinking to drown out everything and having promiscuous sex that led to HIV,” Mr. Ruiz is quoted as saying. “My struggles were real! The enemy had its grip, and now God has taken me from that moment and has given me Christ Jesus.”

The social media post was accompanied by an advertisement for the Freedom March, with the caption “Share if you believe homosexuals can change!”

The rally Saturday in Washington, D.C., will feature formerly LGBT men and women who say they have been liberated from their sexualities and gender identities by Christ.

Mr. Ruiz is expected to speak at the Freedom March.

In the advertisement, Mr. Ruiz is quoted as saying he should have died in the June 2016 mass shooting in which 49 people were killed.

“I should have been number 50 but now I have the chance to live in relationship and not religion - not just loving Christ but being in love with Christ and sharing His love,” he said. “I know who I am and I am not defined with who the enemy says I use to be - but who Christ Jesus says I am.”
