CHESAPEAKE, Va. (AP) - Authorities say a naked man armed with a knife has been found dead after he apparently locked himself in a hotel room and set off a fire alarm.
Chesapeake police Detective D.B. Weir tells news outlets police and fire were called for a report of a nude man who locked himself in a Residence Inn room with water running and the fire alarm activated Tuesday evening. Weir says a fire crew entered the room and saw the man in the bathroom waving a butcher knife and speaking incoherently.
A SWAT team entered after a camera showed the man was incapacitated. He was pronounced dead shortly before midnight. No one else was inside the room.
His identity hasn’t been released. Officials have not said what caused his death.
