Washington State fires women’s hoops coach June Daugherty

PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) - Washington State women’s basketball coach June Daugherty will not return next season.

Athletic director Patrick Chun announced the change Tuesday, saying a nationwide search for a new women’s basketball coach will begin immediately.

The Cougars finished 10-20 this season, and Daugherty missed the end of the season because of health problems.

She was hired ahead of the 2007-08 season and in 11 years led the Cougars to a 130-218 record with three appearances in the WNIT.
