WHEELING, W.Va. (AP) - A magistrate in West Virginia has been indicted on charges alleging he accepted bribes from a bail bonding company.
U.S. Attorney Bill Powell announced the charges Tuesday against Ohio County Magistrate Harry A. Radcliffe III.
Powell says in a news release a federal grand jury indicted the 60-year-old Radcliffe on charges that include bribery, wire fraud and filing a false income tax return.
Radcliffe is accused of soliciting and accepting bribes from a Wheeling bail bonding company and directing defendants and their families to the company without offering other required options.
Powell says Radcliffe allegedly failed to report $15,500 in income on federal taxes for 2013 through 2015.
Powell says the bail bonding company owner and a former employee also face federal income tax charges related to the case.
