BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Authorities say two Vermont residents accused of selling drugs and weapons on the dark web have been indicted on federal charges.
Vermont Public Radio reports Sam Bent and Djeneba Bent, both of St, Johnsbury, were charged with conspiracy to distribute LSD, MDMA, cocaine and marijuana. Sam Bent also faces four counts of money laundering.
Prosecutors say the cousins bought and sold drugs on the dark web. Authorities say the pair used post offices in Vermont and New Hampshire to mail drugs.
Both were arrested as part of a yearlong U.S. Department of Justice investigation into dark web vendors. The Department of Justice says they have arrested 35 people and confiscated over $23.6 million in the probe.
Attorneys for the Bents did not return a call seeking comment.
