SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) - Prison officials are investigating the death of an inmate at a South Carolina prison.

Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger said in a news release that 56-year-old James Richard Gaddy Jr. died at the minimum security Livesay Correctional Institution around 1 p.m. Thursday.

Clevenger said an autopsy indicated there was no sign of foul play. Clevenger said he was awaiting toxicology tests before making a final determination.

The South Carolina Department of Corrections said Gaddy was in the prison for trafficking methamphetamine.
