RICHMOND — Redskins linebacker Zach Brown will return to practice Friday — a day after he was ruled day-to-day with a quad strain.

On Thursday, Brown was in the middle of defending a run play when he appeared to slip and fall on the wet field. Brown was slow to get up and attended by a member of the Redskins’ training staff. He limped off to the medical tent and did not return to practice.

“He’s going to do a little bit more today,” coach Jay Gruden said.

In 2017, Brown, who signed a one-year, $2.3 million deal to join the Redskins that offseason, led the team in tackles with 127 in 13 games. Brown’s speed was a difference maker for the defense, and it was missed when he sat out the last three games of the season with a foot injury.

In March, Brown signed a new three-year, $21 million deal to stay with Washington.
