JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Missouri senators have confirmed appointments of two of their Republican colleagues to serve on tax and utility commissions.

Senators in a Thursday voice vote approved Lee’s Summit Sen. Will Kraus’ appointment to the State Tax Commission. They also approved Kansas City Sen. Ryan Silvey’s appointment to the Public Service Commission, a regulatory board that sets utility rates.

Both Silvey and Kraus resigned from the Senate to take the jobs.

Kraus was a leader in tax policy during his time in the Legislature. He’ll serve on a board responsible for overseeing tax assessments in the state.

Silvey also worked on utility policy as a senator.
