HONOLULU (AP) - Hawaii Gov. David Ige raised $810,000 for his re-election campaign during the six months through December, while his primary election opponent U.S. Rep. Colleen Hanabusa raised $731,000.
Both Democrats announced the results on Wednesday.
Hanabusa’s campaign says it began fundraising efforts in earnest in December. Hanabusa formally launched her campaign on Jan. 8.
Ige is seeking another four-year-term as the state’s top elected official. Hanabusa is giving up her seat in the U.S. Congress to run for governor. She’s criticized Ige lacking leadership. She says Hawaii is adrift and rudderless.
Republican candidates John Carroll and state Rep. Andria Tupola have yet to file reports for the period with the state’s Campaign Spending Commission.
