PITTSBURGH (AP) - Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto has been sworn in to a second term.
In his speech Wednesday, he sketched out his vision for the city, which would eliminate homelessness and remove lead pipes from the water system by 2030.
The Democrat told the crowd of about 1,000 that he sees Pittsburgh as a “the heart of a caring place that, again and again, got knocked down on its knees, but brushed itself off.”
Gov. Tom Wolf credited Peduto for having “brought the city back from the economic troubles of the past” during a five-minute speech.
The event was punctuated by video clips in which mayoral staff touted a number of accomplishments - including finding housing for some homeless veterans and policies that earned a perfect score from the LGBT advocacy group.
